Motel El Portal

Mexicali, capital of the peninsula of Baja California, is quite possibly one of the most popular places to visit in Mexico. Resting right next to Calexico (America's Mexicali) at the Mexico-American border, it is perhaps the most easily-accessed Mexican city-municipality from America. It is also practically touching the international borders, which allows people from other places to come to Mexicali. It is because of this that this Mexican territory has become one of the most socially-progressive cities in the world. It is also the reason why this modern city attracts visitors from all over the world who want to experience its hybrid culture and engage in new business deals. It is therefore not surprising that places like the Motel El Portal have sprung up to offer accommodations.

The Motel El Portal is located a kilometer and a half down the highway to San Felipe, in 133 San Felipe Highway Mexicali, Baja California Mexico. The highway on which the Motel El Portal stands is technically part of Benito Juarez Boulevard, which in turn intersects with the main roads Lazaro Cardenas Boulevard and Calzada Independencia before merging into another major road, Calzada Justo Sierra.

These connections to the major roads of Mexicali allow guests of the Motel El Portal flexible access to the city-municipality, if only leaning more towards the attractions at the southern end. However, these attractions readily available for those staying at the Motel El Portal are hardly uninteresting. For example, the highway to San Felipe where the Motel El Portal is built also plays home to Mexicali's eighteen-hole golf course, an ideal meeting area for businessmen or place of leisure for vacationing families. The highway is also a handful of minutes away from the interesting industrial parks near the San Luis Exit, a shopping complex and market ( including the Mega Comercial and the Calimax Anahuac) where Benito Juarez Boulevard, Lopez Mateos Boulevard and Lazaro Cardenas Boulevard meet, and the Bosque y Zoologico (Forest and Zoo) in Lazaro Cardenas Boulevard. Motel El Portal's location is also said to be one that passes by a McDonald's University, which is always fun to see, and not to mention the newly-inaugurated Plaza Centenario (Centennial Plaza in English), which has commercial places, and a few American chains.

The Motel El Portal is a three-star hotel with (at the last count) a total of forty-three rooms available for reservations. Each room has the standard offering of airconditioning, heating, bathroom facilities, one television and one telephone all in a very comfortable-sized space. Room service is also thought to be very good at the Motel El Portal, and guests are assured of their security and privacy.

There is no listing of the standard rates of the Motel El Portal, so it would be best to first check with a travel agent or with the hotel itself before going on the trip. The telephone number of the hotel operator is 011-52 (686) 561-7477.
