Mexicali, one of the capital cities of Mexico, may be one of the most culturally fascinating places in the world. Because it sits right next to Calexico (America's Mexicali) separated only by the Mexico-American border, this city-municipality has the advantage of having a population that is largely capable of speaking English – meaning to say that Mexicali has a bilingual community. Apart from this, the area almost touches the international borders, which allows influences from other cultures (a good number of which is Eastern) to enter this Mexican territory. What this means is that guests of the Motel Olimpo are given relatively easy access and navigation through Mexicali, even if it might take a few more minutes than it would if they reserved in hotels at the city-municipality's hotel district (which are, by the way, considerably more expensive). The San Luis Highway's connection to Lopez Mateos Boulevard, for example, takes visitors staying at the Motel Olimpo through a district of interesting industrial parks where they can shop for hardware in bulk for low prices, before reaching the Calafia Plaza, where the famous Mexicali bullring stands. Lazaro Cardenas, on the other hand, leads up to a rather large shopping center, and a university where it might interest Motel Olimpo guests to people-watch.
